Welcome to a Path of Healing and Growth

My promise to you is to be there with you every step of your journey. Together we will get you to places you’ve wanted to get to but haven’t had success, with you as the driver and I, merely as a passenger holding the map. I will guide you towards your goals, help you heal, reconnect your family, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.

My favorite question to ask is, ‘Is that okay with you?’, because this is your life, and you get the ability to dictate how it should look. Seeking therapy takes a great deal of courage and finding a therapist who is the right fit for you can seem overwhelming. Congratulations on taking that first step.

My name is Njemeh Barrow and I am the owner of Gladden. I chose the name Gladden to signify the attainability of keen pleasure, joy and reveling of inner peace that seem unreachable when faced with life’s adversity. Allow me to invite you on a journey of tranquility of mind and gladden your heart by discovering relief. My work is guided by evidence-based strategies, paired with a dedication to creating a collaborative environment and growth.

I acquired a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with a Mental Health concentration from U.W Madison, and hold a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) credential certified to provide specialized mental health services in the state of Wisconsin. I also hold an Independent Clinical Supervisor (ICS) license that enables me to provide substance use disorder treatment services and provide supervision to certified counselors needing clinical supervision to maintain their license.

We will work as partners to problem-solve and create goals for the changes you want to see. I provide a supportive environment for you to process your past, define your future, and implement changes to the present. I want to hear about your experiences and collaborate with you to make your sessions as meaningful to you as possible. Below are the areas I specialize in:

Individual Session

Life can be challenging. Sometimes, really challenging. Emotional pain is a universal human experience, yet we often experience it alone. That doesn’t mean you have to. During your individual therapy sessions, you can expect a warm and empathetic environment where you can freely express yourself whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use dependence or other personal struggles . Through compassionate care and evidence-based techniques, I will work collaboratively with you to develop personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Couples Therapy Session

It is common for all types of couples to experience change in their relationship whether you’re newly-wed or in a long-term marriage, navigating separation, divorce or you just became new parents. I’m dedicated to helping you and your partner build a strong and thriving relationship and navigate challenges, improve communication, and cultivate a deeper connection with one another. Each session is tailored to your unique needs to enhance and achieve the results you desire.

Assessment

Are you ready to take the first step but unsure where to start? Then a comprehensive assessment could be the right starting point for you. The assessment focuses at multiple aspects of your life with the primary goal to making effective, individualize plan designed to draw together a clinical formulation basis for healing. The assessment highlights your strengths, concerns, triggers and other topics that may be relevant to you.

Clinical Supervision & Consultation

Are you an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW), Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) or Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) pursuing licensure in Wisconsin? Clinical supervision is an essential component of your training and development. Gladden offers individual, and group clinical supervision services to support you on your journey towards licensure.

Services available for licensed practitioners needing consult about treatment planning, case management, and treatment delivery, etc.

Specialized Services for individuals from immigrant & diverse background

There are a multitude of barriers and risk factors faced by refugee and migrant families, including but not limited to lack of community support, stigma relating to mental illness or seeking mental health support, lack of access to resources, just to name a few. Most importantly, individuals from migrant, refugee and diverse backgrounds often report being misunderstood or feeling unheard when they seek support. If this sounds like you or someone you know, Gladden could be your first step towards the healing, connection and understanding you deserve. Coming from a similar background, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by our community and it would be an honor to be part of your journey to resolving them.
